KC Old Boy Andrew Wilson to Attend Cambridge University

Andrew Wilson, Kingston College’s head boy in 2002, will attend Cambridge University in the fall of 2008 to pursue a Masters degree in Advanced Chemical Engineering (M. Phil. ACE).  His long-term goal is to pursue a PhD in Chemical or Bioengineering.

An outstanding scholar, Andrew is the winner of the Tau Beta Pi Fellowship awarded by the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.  The President of Howard University acknowledged him during the Commencement Ceremony on May 10, 2008 for high scholastic achievement. He graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA and was the top student in Chemical Engineering and the College of Engineering, Architecture and Computer Sciences (CEACS) and won the Chemical Engineering Department Award for Excellence.

Andrew was also a distinguished Washington Institute of Chemists (subsidiary of the American Institute of Chemists Foundation) Awardee.  This award is given to the top students in Biochemistry, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering from colleges in the Maryland/Washington DC/Virginia area. This prestigious award was given to Andrew on the basis of his demonstrated record of leadership, ability, character, scholastic achievement and potential for advancement of the chemical professions.

Andrew credits God, his mother Andrea Wilson-Messam who is a St. Hugh’s Alumna, and father Philip Wilson a KCOB who attended KC in the 1970’s, family, friends and professors for his success.

Andrew Wilson receives his plaque for the highest GPA of 4.0 in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Computer Sciences (CEACS) from the Dean of the College, Dr. James H. Johnson Jr.
