Ms. Wendy Chambers, a former Kingston College teacher, passed on November 25, 2011. She taught Industrial Techniques. She was "medically boarded" in March, 2010 as a result of her health being seriously affected by cancer. She was in her 30s.
Based on the tributes, the entire KC family was touched by an Angel.
She started at KC in 2002 and was the only female member of the Industrial Arts Department. She was loved and respected not only by the male members of the team but the entire teaching staff, particularly at the Melbourne Campus where she worked. She was also a Coordinator of Grade 7.
Miss Chambers was eulogized as a fighter, one who saw every challenge as an adventure. So despite her diagnosis, she never wallowed in self-pity and many times would be the motivator instead of the "motivate." She was never late in submitting the grades for the 10 classes she taught and was always very concerned about her "boys."
She never had to raise her voice at any of them and they returned the respect and love she showed to them. Everyone spoke about her winning personality, adorned with a radiant smile.
Father Powell said she was a true Fortis - she fought her illness with bravery.
RIP Wendy Chambers
