The Kingston College Key Club’s major Christmas project, fondly called the President’s project, is a special service-oriented event carried out annually on Christmas Day at the Jamaica Christian Boys’ Home. Dedicated and service yearning KC Key Club members, along with our faculty advisors saw it fit to spend Christmas giving back, making a difference in the lives of these boys.
Every year this project proves to be a success and 2012 was no different. Our board members stayed over from the night of Christmas Eve and much work was done in preparation for the day to come, thus portraying our dedication.
Contributions of bread, callaloo, flour, breadfruit, and baked beans to name a few were made by our members, families and friends and everything ready to get the day started. The programme commenced at 7 am and a healthy breakfast was prepared by some of the members with the aid of our Vice-principal, Mrs. Marguerita Hall.
Whilst breakfast was being prepared other members conducted a succinct devotion to get the programme on its way.
Breakfast was then served and the key clubbers then socialized and games were also played. The much anticipated football match between the KC key clubbers and the boys of the home was also on the agenda. Of course KC emerged as the victor “after a good four years of losing.’’
Despite the injury received by our own Lieutenant Governor, Shawn Martin, the football match was one to talk about. The savoury breakfast and the football match was the talk of the day; the boys were electrified upon being served dessert.
At the end of the day it was safe to say that project ended on a good note and we departed at 1 pm.
