Bertel “Bertie” Chin was born in Kingston, Jamaica on February 26, 1942 to Myrtle and Vincent Chin.  He was the eldest of five children, two brothers and two sisters.

Bertie attended Kingston College where he excelled in sports, particularly soccer and cricket.  He was a member of the 1957 team that won the Manning Cup and the Olivier Shield.

After graduating from KC, he migrated to the United States and resided in New York for several years before he became homesick and returned to Jamaica, his island in the sun. Bertie was an entrepreneur and realizing better opportunities were opened to him in the United States he decided to return.

Bertie has a love of life and a great sense of humor that warmed the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was an unforgettable person who has left all who loved him with warm and happy memories.  He was very generous in words and action.

He is survived by his loving wife Vicki, six children, twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, close relatives and wonderful friends.
