Stanley Williams, a retired teacher who taught at Kingston College during the 1960’s has died.  He was also a former principal of Manning’s High School, Vice Principal at Camperdown High School and Jamaica College.

Williams met his wife while they were both teachers at KC. He taught Biology, Botany and Chemistry.

Dr. Hugh Vaughn recalls he taught him Biology and Botany,  and, “He was a wonderful man, down to earth, practical and principled, without false airs, and a genuine caring person.”   He spoke with a real country accent when he first came to KC, so he was asked if he was Jamaican.  His reply, “who mi, mi born a Savlamar 27 year now,"   elicited peals of laughter.

He went on to earn a Master of Science in Library studies and became a professionally trained librarian. He was affectionately known by some of his students as “Bioman.” Dr. Robert Wan was a student of his wife who taught history at KC.

He is survived by his wife Fay (nee Hylton), children Peter Bancroft, Yasmin Diane and Ethlyn Ann, grandchildren, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
