In 1962, the Fifty-second Inter-Scholastic Boys Championship (Champs) was held at the historic Sabina Park for the last time. The new venue - the National Stadium - opened in August 1962 has remained the premier location since 1963 except for closures in 1983 and 2002.

At the time it attracted a record number of twenty-eight schools. In spite of inclement weather, adorned in white sweat suits, the Kingston College athletes treated spectators to a level of athleticism and brilliance, heretofore never seen in Jamaica …..
