Norma Wilson passed on recently. She is the mother of Vice Principal, Juliet Wilson
Norma Grace Wilson was born on April 3, 1947 and attended Pondside Elementary School in Hanover. She trained as an Enrolled Assistant Nurse at the Princess Margaret Hospital and graduated in 1973. She worked at the Cornwall Regional Hospital from1973 to 1989. She migrated to Florida in 1990 where she continued her education, completing several courses related to her field. She died at her home in Lauderhill, Florida on Friday, March 7, 2014.
She was the first of twelve (12) children and adored her own large family of five (5) children: Maureen, Juliet (Vice Principal at Kingston College), Romeo, Michelle and Adrian. She was also the proud grand-mother of nine (9) grand-children: Kara, Mikhail, Romae, Jodian, Jade, Erinn, Amarie, Wesley and Evie.
She believed strongly in education and, as a single parent, ensured that her children got the best education possible. Her hard work, motivation and tremendous sacrifice resulted in her children passing the Common Entrance Exam for five of the best High schools in Jamaica: Montego Bay High School, Mt. Alvernia High School, Cornwall College, Herbert Morrison High and Ardenne High, which made her very proud. Among her five children she has a teacher, a businessman, a chemist, an aeronautical engineer & pilot and a Vice Principal. Her children and grand-children were her life and her entire world.
The funeral service will take place at the St. Paul’s United Church in Montego Bay on Saturday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the cemetery of the Carlisle Memorial United Church in Pondside, Hanover.
