KCOB Omar McLeod ran a superb race to win the 110m hurdles at the Rio Olympics in 13.05 seconds. In so doing, he became the first Jamaican to win gold in that event at the Olympics.
He is also the first KC old boy to win an individual gold at the Olympics.
He is the third Arkansas Razorback to ever win an Olympic gold and the first to do so since Veronica Campbell-Brown’s 200 victory at the 2008 games in Beijing.
McLeod is also the third member of Jamaica’s athletics delegation to earn a spot on top of the podium, joining the elite company of Usain Bolt (100) and Elaine Thompson (100). He was one of the most dominant hurdlers in NCAA history.
While at KC, Omar made his mark in the 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles setting records in both at Champs.
