Former president of KCOBA USA, Robert Anthony Kelly, was laid to rest on June 1, 2018 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

It was a rousing sendoff.

The old-boys from all over represented and paid their respects. Classmates like Clive Bariffe from Toronto, Canada and the past-president of the Toronto chapter, Lance Seymour were also in attendance.

The service was spirited. It was a testament to how well regarded he was. NY Chapter Past President, Winston Stewart read the bible chapter/verse. The current President Perry Bloomfield paid tribute and Everton Barrett, a former classmate, also paid tribute to him from a student perspective. Law school buddies gave testimonials about his time in law school and as an Affirmative Action Director for the city of Springfield. The Springfield mayor sent a letter of condolence and the other city officials attended the service.

A former scholarship recipient Mr. Damion Radcliffe praised Mr Kelly’s benevolence and gave a moving tribute. His son, Joel Kelly and daughter, Petrolin Kelly gave the eulogy. It is estimated that over 200 people attended and it was a tremendous going home celebration for a life well lived.

Kelly served as President of the KCOBA NY Chapter in two stints: 1991-1994 and 2006-2011. Although he lived in Springfield, Massachusetts, he seldom missed a meeting of the KCOBA NY Chapter and was recognized as the face of the Chapter even when he was not the president. The programs that he has been associated include the scholarship program for KC students and graduates and the breakfast Program at the Melbourne Campus.

Kelly was born 0n February 22nd, 1956, in Kingston, Jamaica. He died on May 5th 2018.
