Earlier in June of this year, the KCOB of Florida was instrumental in securing 20 refurbished computers from Memorial Health System for transfer to Kingston College. The computers will go towards furnishing the computer laboratory, in the Douglas Forrest Building at the school.
Dr. Selbourne Goode, a cardiologist who works in the Memorial Health System, managed to secure the computers through interactions with Mr. James Osteen, director of the community outreach arm of the health system. Mr. Audley Hewitt from the Old Boys Association, was quick to secure funds to pay for the installation of the operating platform and to put Microsoft word on each computer, and additionally to arrange for shipping to Jamaica.
Headmaster Dave Myrie has expressed gratitude for the acquisition, but was also quick to point out that at least a hundred computers are needed to fully satisfy the needs of the school. He is looking forward to receiving other contributions that would allow for full furnishing of the facility.
