The Kingston College Key Club Debaters Alrick Davis, Kemoy Goffe and Ricardo Ricketts recently defeated St. Hughs to claim the 2019 Key Club Debating Cup.
The Key Club Debating competition was organized by the Kiwanis Club of Kingston. It was formed in January as a means to build public speaking skills among young key clubbers.
Key Club International, founded in 1925, is the oldest service program for high school students. Often referred to as simply Key Club, it is a student-led organization whose goal is to encourage leadership through serving others. Key Club International is a part of the Kiwanis International family of Service Leadership Programs.
The competition included schools within Kingston and St. Andrew such as St.Hughs High, St.George's College , Kingston College and St. Andrew Technical .
KC entered the 1st round and lost against St. Hughs, however in the 2nd round they defeated St. George's College. In the final KC faced St. Hughs again but this time they were victorious.
The team was coached by Mr. Walker with Ms. Venice McLeod serving as advisor.
