On Friday, February 22, 2019, former treasurer of KCOBA (Toronto) James “Ruddy” Hart, celebrated his 90th birthday at a specially arranged Fortis Friday hosted by the chapter.
Mr. Hart was a member of the winning Kingston College Sunlight Cup cricket teams in 1946 and 1947. The 1946 team shared the unique experience of a triple tie with St. George’s and Calabar. KC won the cup outright in 1946. Notably in attendance at the celebration for Mr. Hart was his teammate on the 1946 team, Dr. Herman Hamilton, who had celebrated his 90th birthday a few weeks earlier.
Another person of note participating in the festivities was Mr. Hart’s son, Peter, class of 1973, who expressed appreciation for the large turn out in support of his dad. President Clive Barriffe, extended birthday wishes on behalf of the board and members of the Toronto chapter.
The evening ended after hours of partaking in traditional Jamaican food, drinks and the obligatory trip down memory lane.
