Rudy Reid and his wife Maroussia have a tradition of celebrating each decade of life and marriage with a Party. This year’s party was in honor of their 30th wedding anniversary and the year in which they both reached 60 years of age.

In lieu of presents they usually ask that friends and family donate to a worthy cause. This year they included the Atlanta chapter’s George Thompson scholarship in the request. Although not everyone complied with the request – some brought presents – they still raised a tidy sum for the fund.

Rudy graduated from KC in 1979. He has been a contributor to the fund over the years and in 2015 he issued a matching funds challenge which resulted in an increase in the amount and number of donations that year.

Rudy and his wife are also funding several scholarships for KC students who are interested in pursuing engineering as a career. These contributions are funneled through the existing George Thompson Memorial scholarship fund.

Each December, the Atlanta Chapter hosts an annual fundraiser in honor of the late George Thompson with proceeds going to the scholarship fund.

Since its inception, the George Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund has provided awards to hundreds of students at Kingston College and scores of Old Boys attending college or university.
