Kingston College (KC) capped off its centenary celebrations in spectacular fashion on Friday, capturing a record-equalling fourth consecutive High School Boys' 4x400m Championship of America title at the 129th Penn Relays Carnival.

KC's team - composed of Jabulani McLeod, Markel Smith, Roshawn Lee, and Marcinho Rose - delivered a masterclass in resilience and speed at Franklin Field, clocking an impressive 3:05.93. The performance not only secured their fourth straight 4x400m crown but also etched the purple-and-whites deeper into Penn Relays lore, matching the century-old record set by Manual Training High School of Brooklyn between 1907 and 1910.

After a challenging start that saw KC trailing in the early stages, it was a powerful third leg by Lee that shifted momentum. Anchor Marcinho Rose sealed the deal with a blistering 45.04-second split, propelling Kingston College past Bullis School of Maryland - who, despite an incredible 43.99-second anchor leg from Olympic gold medallist Quincy Wilson, finished second for the second straight year with a time of 3:06.31. Calabar High, another Jamaican powerhouse, rounded out the top three at 3:06.52.

KC's winning time of 3:05.93 now stands as the second-fastest ever in Penn Relays history for high school boys, trailing only Calabar High's record-setting 3:03.79 from 2018. It also marks a significant improvement from KC's previous best at the event - a 3:09.52 performance in 2022.

The day was a celebration of Jamaican dominance across events. In the High School Boys' 4x100m International Final, St. George's College blazed to a new record of 40.64 seconds, breaking the 41.04 mark previously held by Excelsior High. St. Augustine's College from The Bahamas and Herbert Morrison Technical finished joint-second with identical times of 41.19 seconds. Petersfield High (41.61), Munro College (42.45), and Mona High (44.20) also showed strong efforts in a highly competitive field.

It is interesting to note that he last time a team won four consecutive 4x400 relays was in 1925 the year KC was founded.

With their fourth straight Penn Relays 4x400m title, Kingston College not only honors a rich tradition but also signals a bold future, affirming their place among the giants of high school athletics.

The Purple Reign, it seems, is far from over.
