KC has welcomed on board two students from the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos to the family commencing with the 2011 academic year.
Drexel Maycock is a 15 year old who hails from Nassau and is no stranger to Jamaica as he often visits his grandparents in Port Antonio. His specialty is the shot-put and discuss and he represented his former school, R Walker Senior high in both throws at the U17and U15 in the Bahamas schools championships. In 2010 he represented the Bahamas in the Caribbean Union of Teachers Games in St Kitts. He also represented his country at the 2011 Carifta games at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay. It was here that his mother made enquiries and final contact with KC’s Gregory Spalding as she felt that the school had the requisite credentials to advance her son’s goals both in the area of academic and sports. Drexel has been placed in 4th form at KC.
Sixteen year old Clifton Jean swept the Turks and Caicos schools age group championship for two years in a row in the 400m, 800m and 1500m when he fitted his spikes for Grand Turks mainland based H J Robinson High. Representing his country in the U17 800 m, he reached the second round at the 2011 Carifta Games at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay. His forebears hail from Haiti. His PE teacher, who is Jamaican, recommended that he further his track interest in Jamaica and in particular the preeminent Kingston College. For him KC represents a sound environment to advance his quest for twin academic and sports attainment. The third former has also impressed in his try out on the Clovelly Park basketball court.
