In February of this year, the George Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund in Atlanta was contacted by teacher, Sheryl Capper who attended the same church as KCOB Omar Morrison. Omar had been awarded a partial scholarship to La Sierra University in California but was having difficulty making up the difference plus expenses in obtaining the necessary visa, transcript evaluation and travel costs.
We are happy to report that the fund was able to assist Omar and he has since successfully enrolled at university in California.
Omar plans to become a biochemist so that he can use whatever knowledge and skills he obtains from his education to advance agriculture and medicine.
La Sierra University is a coed Seventh-day Adventist University located in Riverside, California. At one point, as La Sierra College it became a part of Linda Loma University but in 1990 it separated to become an independent institution.
