Ripton Roy Bailey taught geography and economics at Kingston College from 1949-1975. He was also KC’s tennis coach from 1952 to 1968 and led the team into victory, winning the Jamaica Mutual Shield.
Mr. Bailey was born in Harry Watch, Manchester, Jamaica, WI on May 19, 1923 to the late Alfred and Mary Bailey. He was the third of seven children.
Ripton attended Harry Watch Elementary School, Happy Grove Secondary School and Mico Teachers Training College. He continued his studies at the University of Southampton in England where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics.
He eventually held the position of Vice Principal at KC but then went on to become Headmaster at Charlie Smith Comprehensive Secondary School in Trench Town, Jamaica.
He died on August 23, 2012.
