On March 7, 2013, the Kingston College PTA elected a new Executive team to serve for the period 2013 – 2015. The Annual General Meeting was held at the St. Augustine Chapel on the North Street Campus.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President Stewart Jacobs, a KCOB, graciously accepted the position of President and thanked the gathering for their confidence and support. He acknowledged the outgoing President, Victor Henry and his executive for the positive strides they made during their tenure, but promised to improve on the weak areas. Mr. Jacobs then outlined the immediate goals that would form part of his team’s strategic plans.
The immediate goals include:
- Increasing the PTA membership
- Engaging the full participation of the parents, teachers and overall school community
- Positioning the PTA with a greater sense of accountability and respectability
- Providing a partnership that would align the relationship between the KCOBs, parents and teachers
Building on the vision of the Founding father, Bishop Percival Gibson to engender growth and commitment to the school community.
Mr. Jacobs stated: “It is really a good sign to see three KCOBs in the new team offering themselves to serve for the improvement of the school.” In closing, he urged the persons in attendance to make the commitment to the KCPTA.
The Executive held the first meeting on March 21, 2013 to chart the strategies for the year ahead. The details will be communicated over the coming weeks.
