The Fortis Pavilion extends hearty birthday greetings to one of the foremost institution of learning in the Western Hemisphere - Kingston College - that great institution located on Elleston Road and North Street.
We are just 88 years old; however, we have set standards and achieved milestones that some only dream of attaining.
We acknowledge our Founding Father and visionary, Bishop Percival William Gibson, and a host of other pioneers (too many to mention) who facilitated the establishment and growth of this noble institution which has, over the years, been responsible for the holistic development of quality young men who have contributed, and who will continue to contribute to, the shaping of their families, communities, and by extension, country - so that Jamaica, Land We Love will ultimately become "the place of choice to live, work, raise families, and do business" (Vision 2030 Jamaica).
We are deeply indebted to our forefathers whose names and contributions will forever be etched in the annals of KC history.
The successes of this great institution have not been achieved by chance, but through a well laid foundation and a voracious drive to be the best - the indefatigable Fortis spirit!!
The Fortis spirit is what defines us, it is what propels us to be the best at what we do....whether we are an athlete, street vendor, plumber, lawyer, doctor, public servant, pastor/priest, or teacher.
On this very special day, we recognize our school for winning the Peace for Champs Initiative, and our Headboy, Joel Nomdarkham, for providing the necessary leadership to enable KC to win this coveted trophy. We salute our Class Champions (Champs) - Jhevaughn Matherson (Class 3) who shared the award with St. Elizabeth Technical's Jauavauny James, and Clive Pullen (Class 1) who shared the award with Munro College's Delano Williams and Calabar's Frederick Dacres.
We also salute all the boys/teams who/which have represented the school over the years. Win, lose or draw, we were there with you. We acknowledge the hard work of the principals, teachers/administrators, coaches, parents, guardians, past students, including volunteers.
Let's give our full support to the current principal, Mr. Dave Myrie and his team, to ensure that Kingston College remains the standard by which all other institutions are measured.
May the Lord continue to bless our beloved school.
Fortis Then, Fortis Now, Fortis Forever!!!!
Warm regards,
