The Atlanta chapter of the KCOBA honored two old boys at its annual George Thompson Memorial Christmas Party held on December 13, 2014 in Alpharetta, Georgia.
The first honoree, the Honorable Noel Spencer has been a perennial supporter of the George Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund since its inception. Most recently, he provided matching funds that helped the fund increase the number of awards given to students at KC to 30 for the 2014/2015 school year. The fund also awarded two scholarships to old boys attending UWI.
Dr. Seymour Douglas was honored for his support of the Annual School’s Challenge Quiz team. KC is the most successful school in this annual televised completion having won the trophy 11 times.
The awards were presented by Atlanta’s newly appointed Honorary Consul, Attorney Jewel Scott. Audley Hewett and Dr. Ivor Nugent accepted the awards on behalf of the honorees who were both unavoidably absent.
The annual Christmas fundraiser was well attended and attendees were entertained by a performance by two of “Dem 3 Jamaican Tenors” who provided a preview of their upcoming concert which will be held on February 18th 2015 in Atlanta.
Partygoers also enjoyed the music of KCOB and popular Atlanta DJ, Migraine. A buffet and raffle for prizes added to the evenings activities. A fabulous time was had by all as old boys from across the Southeast greeted classmates, many of whom had not been seen in ages.
