The 17th installment of the Florida KC Old Boys’ Big Purple Session moved to new quarters at the Temple Beth Emet at 4807 South Flaming Road in Cooper City. The impressive venue was lit up on October 3rd, 2015 for one of the most talked about events in South Florida’s Jamaican community.
This was the place to see and be seen.
The entertainment featured the perennial favorite Fab 5 Band from Jamaica, artistes such as Gem Myers and Cocoa Tea. DJ Fern and DJ C Smood were also on hand to keep the music playing.
Among the notables in attendance, one could have seen KC’s principal Dave Myrie, Calabar’s principal and popular radio personality Dervan Malcolm of Power 106FM. Holding court in the grand foyer was the man who everybody knew and all the ladies stopped to kiss, Winston Chung Fah, founder of Santos FC and former owner of the popular International Restaurant on Barry Street.
When all was said and done it was another smashing success for the Florida Old Boys. The music played and the people dance. Old boys bought KC shirts and caps and ties as well as cups and other purple souvenirs.
