Atlanta makes Headway with new Fundraising Approach

The year 2015 was the second year in a row that Atlanta employed the matching funds approach to raising funds. Over the 15 years of the chapter’s existence, we have tried the route of the traditional banquets, walk-a-thons, parties and raffles.

 The first year at the suggestion of Noel Spencer, Atlanta embarked on the matching funds campaign with Noel matching a total of US$2,000.  It proved to be a success as we asked people to help us separate Noel from his money. 

This year Noel stepped up again and we launched our second matching campaign.  Along the way, Rudolph Reid joined in and offered his own matching amount.  In total, Atlanta has raised over US$11,000 this year.  It is to date the largest the chapter has raised from a single project.

All funds collected, 100% is used in the George Thompson Memorial Scholarship program.  The chapter foots the bills for all charges involved in collection of the funds.
