LIDKÖPING, Sweden – University of New Hampshire women's soccer alum Kendra Prince '18 (Ajax, Ontario) has signed a pro contract with Swedish team Lidköpings FK.
Prince, a 2018 graduate of UNH's Nutrition program, will continue on to play professional soccer for Lidköpings FK, whose women's squad plays in the Elitettan division, the second-highest division of Swedish women's soccer. Last season, Lidköpings had a 16-5-5 record in the Elitettan table, just outside of the promotion zone to the top Swedish women's soccer division, Damallsvenskan.
Prince finished her career with the Wildcats during their historic 2017 season, with a record of 11-6-1 (5-2-1 in America East play) and the team's first #1 playoff seed since 2007, and a share of the America East Regular Season title. During that season, Prince was a part of a UNH defense which held opponents to just 17 total goals on the season, averaging just 0.94 goals per game. It was the programs most efficient goals allowed per game average since 2007. The Wildcats held opponents to just three first-half goals in the season, setting the tone early.
Prince becomes the third Wildcat to play professionally after graduation, following Caroline Murray '15 and Brooke Murphy '18. She also follows in the footsteps of her older sister Nichelle Prince, who plays professionally for the Houston Dash of the NWSL and for Team Canada in the Olympic games, taking home bronze in 2016.
"We are very happy and proud of Kendra." says UNH head coach Steve Welham. "She has developed into a wonderful person and player…all of her hard work and dedication has paid off in a big way. We are excited to see her continued upward mobility in the game and I personally have no doubt that she will excel at the next level. Kendra's athleticism and dynamic ability on and off the ball will serve her well in the one of the best Women's Pro Leagues in the world."
"I'm so grateful to have this opportunity to play professionally in Sweden." says Prince. "I love pushing myself out of my comfort zone and I'm so excited to see where this will lead me!"
