L. Garth Kiddoe, former Secretary of KCOBA Jamaica and founding Secretary of the Kingston College Development Trust Fund passed away on September 6, 2019.

He was the first of 3 brothers, Gladwyn Kiddoe and Trevor Kiddoe being the others who attended KC. He is a cousin of Neville Oxford whose mother had married a Kiddoe. He is also survived by his older sister Gwendolyn Kiddoe.

Garth was Chairman of the Professional Engineers Registration Board, a member of the Board of Directors of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) representing the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ), Chairman of the Board of the Jamaica Central Securities Depository Limited and JCSD Trustee Services Limited (both subsidiaries of the JSE), Chairman of the Board of Governors of the JSE e-Learning Campus, and a member of the Public Accountancy Board (PAB).

He was a fellow and past President of the ICAJ, and a past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean (ICAC). He was also a member and past President of the Jamaica Institution of Engineers (JIE) and deputy Chairman of the Greater Caribbean Regional Engineering Accreditation System (GCREAS), an independent accreditation agency involving engineering professionals from the Dominican Republic, Panama and Jamaica.

At one time he was Dean, Faculty of Business and Management at the University of Technology (UTECH). Before that he worked for 19 years at the Jamaica Public Service where he was manager of Budgets and Planning.

Garth gradated KC in 1968 after studying Maths and Physics at the Advanced level. He was a member of the Air Wing of the Cadet Corps and one of the first cadets to take flying lessons at Up Park Camp.

A Chartered Accountant and a Professional Engineer, he had a brilliant career. He held a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of the West Indies (UWI, St Augustine), and Master’s Degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from the UWI, Mona.
