KC Old Boy and well-loved Atlanta Jamaican, Kevin Boothe passed unexpectedly at his home in Atlanta.
He was known for his work helping the various non-profit organizations in the community.
Kevinwas born in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
He attended Kingston College from 1967 to 1974 after which he studied Civil Engineering at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago. He would later obtain an MBA in Human Resources from Nova Southeastern University.
Kevin lived in South Florida for almost 20 years prior to relocating to Atlanta in 1996.
Kevin was a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Georgia and Florida. He served as chairman of the Florida Professional Engineers in Industry, and President of the Broward Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society. He was also a Toastmaster.
He retired from AT&T after 37 years of service.
Of the numerous volunteer projects in which he has been involved, one of his favorites was painting playground maps fun learning tools. In addition to tutoring Math and Science to kids in several inner-city Atlanta schools, Kevin was also involved in several Junior Achievement projects, developing business skills for the youth.
Kevin served on the board of the Atlanta Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival; proceeds of which go to developing local athletes to compete in the Olympics.
He was forever involved in fundraisers that support Jamaican schools. In addition to the KC Old Boys, Kevin was actively involved in supporting Integrity Children’s Fund, Atlanta Jamaican Association and various other High School alumni associations.
Over the last 30 years he has served on several mission teams (humanitarian, sporting, construction, medical, outreach); This work has taken him to many parts of the world including Jamaica, Central and South America, and Europe.
He enjoyed traveling and photography.
Kevin had a goal of establishing a communications network connecting Diaspora members all across the USA to become a more unified and effective body with significant presence and influence.
Kevin is survived by his sister, Christine Boothe- Brown and his daughter Dr. Allison Laroche and one granddaughter, Abigail.
