The Audley Hewett Tennis Court

The grand opening for Kingston College’s new Tennis court was held on September 22nd, 2023, at Clovelly Park.

The new court will be named the Audley Hewett Tennis Court.

The Chairman of the school’s board of governors, Michael Vascianna, Principal Dave Myrie and Audley Hewett of the Florida chapter of KC Old Boys Association were present for the grand opening ceremony.

Also in attendance were the school’s Vice Principal Mrs. Marguerita Hall; the Chairman of the Development Fund Reynold Scott; Old boy and Managing Director of Scientific and Medical Supplies Ltd. Howard Lau; Old boy Christopher Hunt of the Wagga Hunt Foundation; Richard Lindsay president of the Jamaica Chapter of the KCOBA, Normal Noble of the Tampa Chapter and Winston Ulett.

Selected members of the Kingston College Cadet Unit attired in khaki denim uniforms provided the honor guard.

Audley Hewett is a devoted old boy who has been involved in just about every major project at Kingston College. His contributions and tireless efforts in support of his alma mater are legendary.

Audley attended KC from 1950 to 1956. He was a member of several Champs teams and won gold and bronze in the triple jump. He was the captain of the victorious 1956 Lawn Tennis team and a member of the winning 1953 and 1955 teams. He was a key member of the faculty which managed the school’s “Golden Run” period from 1949 to 1975.

As coach, he guided the tennis team which he revived after a period of inactivity to the Jamaica championship in 1978.
